Sorry folks. Slifer's closed for now. :'( I dont know if I will ever reopen it.

Due to the recent problems with moderating, a special thread has been set up. Just click here and someone should get to your thread (often bumping doesnt help if the person who normally moderates you isnt on at all. Other mods will usually ignore the thread as they think it is taken care of. Posting in that thread will get their attention).
Feburary's Spill is finally out. Did I spell that right? I dont care. :P

Levelling Up, Moves, Evolution and Items « Thread Started on Jun 26, 2005, 12:02pm »
New members! Please don't be put off by this. You dont have to memorise all of it, and most of the time slifer is fairly simple. These rules are mostly just for when someone has a disagreement, so we have something to go off of.
It is important though that you read the Levels post, the first part of the Moves, and get the gist of Evolution. You wont get in trouble for forgetting something.
This page is rather long, so remember, you can always use CTRL+F to find what you are looking for.
--> NO STEALING <-- There are more than a few sites who have copied this thread for their own use. Please do not use this without my permission. I have put a lot of work into this thread.
Levels
Levels can be gained by fighting other trainers, wild pokemon, in trainer houses or by training with things such as sticks and stones.
Example One. Talia bent down and searched the ground for a medium sized stick. Her Zigzagoon was staring at her, its head tilted to one side, wondering what she was going to do. Once Talia found one, she instructed Zigzagoon to try and catch the stick before it hit the ground, while she threw it in his direction.
You would then go into detail of the training, how Zigzagoon progressed in the training, etc.
Example Two. Jason entered the trainer house. Various cushons, rods, flags and toys that could be used for training filled the room. Jason took a pillow and put it against his stomach, while Rattata tried to tackle his trainer down.
Trainer houses will be placed randomly around the Slifer Region.
Mods will hand out levels after the above occur, or after trainer or wild pokemon battles, but not always. If you catch a pokemon, you will still gain experience.
Off topic for a minute... That's when my sister's getting married, and I'm the maid of honor. That would REALLY piss her off, too, since I'd have to leave in the middle of the wedding to get the book >.>

Pokemon Moves
Moves will be gained by levels, just as they would be in the game. Pokemon can learn FIVE moves. If they learn a sixth, you may delete another move to make space for it if you wish.
Slifer goes by the Serebiinet Pokedex, and by the Ruby/Sapphire movesets.
There are also move tutors in various towns, who may teach your pokemon certain moves if you do something for them, or for a cost.
Bred pokemon may also learn some extra moves. This will be up to the mods to decide.
The Pick-Up ability only works when your pokemon is out of its pokeball, and INVOLVED in the roleplay. If its just sitting there nothing will happen. Even so, a pick-up is fairly uncommon. It works the same way as in Pokemon Emerald (see link for table showing levels/items). Abilities like Stench which require your pokemon to be in the first slot of your party to work, instead work whenever the pokemon is outside of its pokeball.
Some moves have confusing definitions for how they should work in roleplay. You dont need to memorize any of these definitions, its just here for a reference. This is the Slifer Definitions of moves. I am not putting all attacks here. Most attacks are well explained by the pictures and descriptions in Serebii.net's Attackdex. If you would like something added here PM me.
Confusion: Serebii says: A psychic attack that may cause confusion.. The anime contradicts how it works. The definition for slifer is that it can not be used to move objects, etc. (no telekenetic powers), but that it inflicts a sort of mental pain to the opponent, which may result in their confusion (10% chance according to Serebii.)

Pokemon Evolution
Pokemon will evolve at the levels they do in the game. However, if you want to cancel the evolution for whatever reason, when it comes to 'So-and-so is evolving!' Just startle the pokemon in the roleplay.
If nothing startles them and they aren't holding an everstone they will evolve. This includes if you aren't actually with your pokemon (eg. they are lost in the woods or at a daycare center).
Pokemon that evolve via trade will evolve as they do in the game.
Pokemon that evolve with stones (moon stone, fire stone, etc.) will evolve as normal. Evolution stones will be found in random places around the region.
Pokemon that evolve with an item will require by just giving the pokemon the item.
Zubat, Chansey, Eevee, Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff and Azurill will be attached with a happiness bar in their Trainer Memo. When their happiness reaches 100% they will evolve (except with Zubat of course, it must have evolved into a Golbat and have 100% Happiness) Only Advanced Mods, GMods and Admins can add to the happiness.
Feebas will evolve at lv25.
Wurmple will evolve at lv7 into Silcoon or Cascoon at random, chosen by the moderator. It is not affected by day/night.
Tyrogue evolves by stats in the games, so instead it will evolve based on attacks it knows. It will evolve at lv20 regardless (though you can cancel it out)
If most of Tyrogue's attacks do damage, it will evolve into Hitmonlee. (eg. Tackle, Water Gun, Zap Cannon)
If most of Tyrogue's attacks do NOT do damage directly, it will evolve into Hitmonchan. (eg. Sand Attack, Hypnosis, Toxic)
If Tyrogue knows the same amount of attacks that do/do not do damage, it will evolve into Hitmontop.
If Tyrogue only knows Tackle it will evolve at random.

Items
Held items are not a part of slifer, at least not currently. Berries are only in place for roleplaying purposes (quests, or if a wild pokemon is upset because they lost them, etc.) They shouldnt be put in the inventory.
If/When slifer gets contests, berries will probably be put into effect, at least Pokeblocks will.
TMs and HMs can be obtained. Your pokemon can only learn the TM/HM if Serebii.net Pokedex says so. All TM/HMs are taken straight from the GBA games, so if they can learn it it'll be there. New: Since Slifer was made before Diamond and Pearl, the HM Flash has been made into HM09, as it is needed to get through Mt. Hamilton.
You can keep track of your pokedex in your profile if you want, but that part should all be on no more than one post.
The Silph Scope has zoom features on Slifer.
Slifer has a few unique items. This list may be incomplete.
Key Items
Item: Electronic Travelling Gear (or ETG) Description: The Electronic Travelling Gear is built into the suitcase. It has a thermometor for weather and for measuring temperatures of humans or pokemon. It has a map of the world with GPS, some AM Radio, an emergency distress signal, room for extensions and (possibly) some other features. Obtainable?:
Item: Madden Woods Map Description: The Slifer Region Map isn't all that detailed, but you should have no trouble navigating the Madden Woods with this map. If you don't have the Electronic Travelling Gear, this is almost a nessescity to get through the Woods. Obtainable:
Item: Good Luck Potion Description: Its main ingredient comes from the inside of an egg of a Shiny Chansey, thus it is very rare (and lucky). If you take it, you will have good luck for an indefinate period of time whilst on slifer, unfortunately you must drink the whole potion in one go, or it wont work. It also tastes fondly of mud. Obtainable: Prize, most commonly to the MOTM.
<-->
Item: Shiny Water Description: This goblet of water shimmers in differnt colours. The water is icy, almost like a slush, and it will not melt. Its origins are unknown. Giving it to a pokemon will give it a 25% chance of CHANGING colour and turning into a shiny pokemon. Its origins are a secret. Obtainable: Prize NOTE: A special 'Master' varient with 100% chance of becoming a shiny was given to the winners of the Banner Competition in August 2006. These are planned to be one-offs.
<-->
Item: Faint Balls (Faint Ball, Great Faint Balls, Ultra Faint Balls respectively) Description: The first Pokeball to be able to catch fainted pokemon was released in August 2006. It used new technology, which brings the pokemon into conciousness, so that the nessicary spark of life is there for capture. The battery life is thus increased quite a bit, so these pokeballs do not come cheap.
Faint Balls will capture a Fainted Pokemon up to lv15, Great Faint Balls up to lv30, and Ultra Faint Balls up to lv45. There is currently no Pokeball in production to capture fainted pokemon over lv45.
If a pokemon is highly damaged (like, a Surskit is squished by a truck, or a Pidgey is repeatedly beaten after fainting) then the Faint Balls may not work, depending on the level.
After a pokemon is caught in a Faint Ball, the pokemon is not revived. It is still fainted. Obtainable: Currently being added to Pokemarts everywhere.
