If an example is in green, it is okay. If an example is in red, it is not okay. )) Da Rules General Some swearing is allowed. Keep bad language to a minimum. In-character, some more cursing is allowed for a sense of realism in certain situations, but try to hold back from going nuts. It's not the language you use, its how you use it. Swearing AT another person to insult them will not be tolerated. (eg. Shit, I just kicked my toe. You're a shithead! SHIT! This is total shit, man, shit! SHIT! ) Type Sensibly. English is a wonderful language, try it sometime. Refrain from typing LIKE THIS, LiKe ThIS or in '1337'. Its annoying and difficult to read and typing in capitals can be considered shouting and rude. Do not post anything containing nudity, pornography, adultery or anything illegal. Doing so, in most cases, will result in permanent banning from the site. This INCLUDES avatars. No Flaming Please try not to flame others. Flaming is insulting other people and putting them down. Having fun is alright, but make sure it also doesnt get out of hand. Keep fights to PMs. (eg. Lol, that was dumb. You're a complete idiot. I hate you. ) No Spamming No spamming. This includes advertising in innappropriate places, posting random junk (except in the Random Crap board), typing short useless messages, etc... No Double Posting Without a Very Good Reason This is a form of spam. Double posting is when you put one part of your post in one post and the second part in another. Thats what the MODIFY button is for. It is okay to double post if your thread has been neglected for a day or two. Sometimes moderators can miss threads, it happens. NEW --> Use the Spoiler Code when Revealing information about Pokemon Diamond and Pearl ...or for the endings to recent movies and stuff. You can activate the spoiler code by clicking the button in a reply (not a Quick Reply, however). It will create a box that looks like this: [spoiler]With the spoiler information inside the tags[/spoiler] You can find more info here (but you dont need to read all that so long as you know how to use it.) Role-Play You MUST create a Character Profile before posting in-character! See, I even gave you a link! You have to have a profile before you start or we wont know you exist. No exceptions. This will now be an immediate short-term suspension. Literacy is your Friend I have a minimum of post length of: - More than two lines. That is two lines of length in the Quick Reply box, not including formatting (bold, italics, etc) OR - Three sentences or more. Some older posts may not follow these guidelines, since the rules have changed. Also, I know sometimes you can get block. I will not instantly enforce these rules, but constant one-liners and poor quality posts will result in a warning. I also expect basic punctuation at least. Capital letters, speech marks, and most importantly full stops so that it reads smoothly. Typos happen too, you dont need to fret over every post, I understand. Violence is Okay! Sometimes... Basically, some people occasionally like to go into detail with injuries. To put it simply: Pokemon injuries should not contain lots of blood etc. Human injuries can be differnt, if you wish them to be, although human injuries aren't common. If you arent sure, speak to me/an experienced moderator, or just dont do it. For anyone concerned, you will not be forced into reading things like that. Threads which contain violence other than basic pokemon battles will contain a notice in the first post. Also, moderator will never put blood or gore into a post without speaking to you first. If you have any concerns feel free to PM me. We Obey the Laws of Physics! Sorta. Your character can't be in two places at once, nor can you skip places, unless you know Fly. The only exception is some of the Special Places. Ask before entering someone's thread You can battle other people and stuff, but check that its okay with them before you go barging into their thread, or you'll seem like a real jerk. Three characters per Account You are allowed to have three differnt characters on the one account. Please dont create multiple accounts with false identities, you will be caught out. Moderators are the Heart of the Site Basically, you post, and a moderator replies with what happens in the universe. You can not make wild pokemon/people appear, only moderators can. If you are a moderator, you can not moderate yourself. This is one of the fundamental rules of Slifer. You also cant control these wild pokemon, which brings me to my next point... Powerplaying and Godmoding You arent allowed to powerplay or godmode. Powerplaying is when you control another player's characters, or do something you normally wouldnt be able to control. You cant describe the outcomes of your action on another player. eg. User One has a Charmander and User Two has a Doduo, and they are fighting. User One posts: The Charmander leaps into the air to get behind the Doduo. It shoots an Ember into the Doduo's back. The wingless bird collapsed and fainted. This is Powerplaying. User One is considerd to have cheated, and User Two has a hissy fit and doesnt invite User One to his birthday party. What should have happened: User One posts: The Charmander leaps into the air to get behind the Doduo. It shoots an Ember at the Doduo's back. User Two replies: The Doduo sidestepped, and the attack misses. The Doduo then turns around to kick the Charmander, but it falls over cause its really stupid and it cant even fly. Stupid bird. Okay, maybe not exactly like that, but you get the picture. User Two could have also let the attack hit. Most attacks should hit as a general rule, to keep things fluent. Godmoding is when a player is too powerful, and stronger than it should be. Dodging or simply surviving too many attacks would be an example. In reality, most battles should not last that long. Godmoding is also when a players character is perfect (or almost perfect) in absolutely every way or has some sort of unnatirual power. Link to your character profile in your signature This is so moderators can get to your profile easier if they need to. Simply put this into your signature, filling in the gaps: Quote: [url=The URL of your Character Profile goes here (http://slifercity.proboards39... etc.)][My Profile][/url] Or something equivelent. I think this is way longer than the last version of the rules. Oh well, I hope I've explained it better. If you have any suggestions/questions just PM me, admin. Also, no copying this to other sites. Mine. In general, you shouldnt go nuts fearing you'll break the rules. Its not that hard, most people get it quite quickly, and you'll probably only get a warning to begin with. Try to have fun, more than worrying about stuff like that. I want the site to be for fun, these rules are just here cause I need to enforce them every now and then so it all runs smoothly.
